I led 100 students at a summer camp in building a 3 story tall functional kaleidoscope in the forest. They worked in small teams on designing and fabricating all the complex parts for the machine. Cranks drove the mechanism to move chunks of clear acrylic plastic inside a rotating drum. Visitors can enter one of 3 chambers and look up a mirrored shaft to see the patterns of light change.
